"Had she remembered these moments because of me, or had they dissolved into the warm tide of her own imagination, stripped of their private significance?"
I really like the way this all holds together, the Kerouac quote, the transient nature of relationships, the painting, poem and the curtains closing with "your uncertainty."
Side note, I don't know if I agree with her about poetry making sense of things, me thinking about some poetry and prose poetry like Doctor Sax by Kerouac and I'm like what the *^%$ and i just keep reading and it makes no sense to me and i kinds like that.
i just realized i responded to your comment here on your comment on my blog. why do i complicate every damn thing. Time for a drink, but I'll wait until 5. Beach Boys and a book. Excellent!
"I imagined a timeline where she had written these lines while I was still sleeping beside her, where she had already been processing our life into art while I, ignorant of these pen strokes, had been living it."
Really beautifully put. Being someone who has written (and still writes) about my relationships with still-living people, this was really intriguing to me.
I appreciate you stopping by, Delaney. I hope you find your writing to be fulfilling and they help you make sense of the world. I suppose that's all we can ever ask. ✨
So interesting to think about art makers and interrogate their observations of us. Are they sincere? Are they collecting data in a way to improve their art?
It IS interesting. I think we are constantly collecting data, but as a visual artist this information can morph into something that doesn't resemble the other person at all. Besides, we can never know how we look or seem to another. It's kind of wild.
What a passage!

Beautiful
Merci, Mrs. Simon.
As someone who has been on both sides of similar situations, this one hit me hard. Thanks for sharing it.
I appreciate the little slice of time it took you to read it, Jessie. Cheers.
Such a good read.
Thanks, Ryan. Your last one was a banger too.

Art is a trip man.
I hope your Xmas was chill. I got a Beach Boys t-shirt and a book. Pretty good score if you ask me.

Right back at you Gary xx
You weren’t erased. You never existed in the first place. Some people are simply incapable of love. It’s not personal.

Oooff.
Thanks! I seriously think “ooof” might be my favorite and preferred response. 🙂
An absolutely gorgeous read
Thank you x a million!

Thanks, Jenny. Your piece on "bad girls" was pretty cool too. :)

Thanks, Bob. I haven't heard much from your Cubbies this off-season.
